fair-trade-label.jpgThe "Geo Fair Trade" project is a project funded by the European Union and must develop a tool that enables producers to communicate to consumer interests and the benefits of fair trade based on objective criteria (indicators of sustainable development). Six test sites allow us to develop this tool based on specific cases.

This communication tool should also be open to the industry and/or marketers, which are not only fair trade developers but also precious communication actors on what is fair trade and on its impact on the populations of producers.

The meeting should address the following points:

  • The Geo Fair Trade project and its progress
  • Interest of the tool as a means of communication (demonstrator)
  • Identification of operators that can have open access to this communication tool (importers, manufacturers, distributors, marketeurs, etc.)
  • Characteristics of these operators to have access (certification, membership associations, fair trade, etc.)
  • Architecture of the different data sets (Fair Trade as well as sustainable development indicators) to link a consumer packaging of a particular FT product to the different producers groups involved in the growing and the preparation of the FT ingredients of the relevant product.
  • Other relevant data relating to the marketing of fair trade products
  • Miscellaneous

This meeting will take place on June 29th 2010 at the Agricultural Center of Gembloux (Belgium). The participation is limited to 10 attendees from the industry, respectively operators' that are marketing FT Products. Should you or one of your colleagues be interested to participate to this meeting, please fill in the following form.
