geofairtrade-biofach-speaker.jpgBio Fach is a professional exhibition mainly for products derived from organic farming. It is the largest exhibition of this kind in Europe with over 2.700 Exhibitors and over 46.500 visitors. The main space is devoted to Organic food with its national and international halls. All the exhibitors exclusively devoted to Fair Trade (Associations, Producers and manufacturers, services, etc.) were grouped in one of the international halls under the main heading "Organic + Fair". But over 300 hundred of the other organic exhibitors exposed their Fair Trades Involvement and/or Products in their "organic" stands.

The Geo Fair Trade Conference was one of four other conferences related to the subject of Fairness in Trade (same day and same conference room at different times from 10:00 to 17:00). Geo Fair Trade was represented by three of the 11 Project Partners: Pierre Ott, from ECOCERT , presented the project as a whole; Quentin Leroy, from CRA-W , exposed the sustainable development indicators in conjunction with the fair trade commitments; Benjamin Cousin, from Max Havelaar Fr, mentioned to the audience what where the interests of the Fair Trade Movement in the Geo Fair Trade Project. About 40 participants shared their concerns and expressed their wishes during the 40 minutes discussion after the three presentations (15-20 minutes each).

We anticipate being present as Geo Fair trade at the next Bio Fach (16-19/02/2011) with another conference. Next year we will have more tangible results to present. The participation will be enhanced through targeted communication means towards the exhibitors as well as the visitors.
